Examples of Events
Team Dylan-Dylan and his family are from Belgium and his mom, Linda, has named their fundraiser "100 hearts for Dylan". For every donation, she will color a heart. Linda says "every heart, every contribution, and every euro raised brings us one step closer to a better future for all individuals with WAGR." The IWSA has a European bank account and donations can be made directly to that account.
Team Grace- The Colhoun Family from the United Kingdom continues to raise awareness and funds for WAGR and the IWSA. This month AJ and his football team are taking on a challenge! They're aiming to complete 11,000 kick-ups in 11 days (3rd-13th of November). The WAGR genetic deletion is on Chromosone 11 so that's why they've chosen 11,000. The players, parents, and managers are all on board and ready to raise funds for the IWSA.
Team Emilia-The Davies Family of the UK is Walking for WAGR. Ten year old Emilia has faced many challenges in her short life and has agreed to walk 100km in November to raise funds for the IWSA "to help them continue their work supporting familis, advancing research, and improving lives."
Team Miranda-The Morris Family of Pennsylvania, USA, are teaming up with their family foundation called Miranda's Mission to support the IWSA during this year's WAGR Awareness Campaign. From Nov 1 through Nov 13, they're asking families and friends to join "Miles for Miranda" walking challenge to raise funds for the IWSA. When they reach 1,113 miles (significant to the WAGR genetic deletion region), Miranda's Mission will donate $1,113 to the IWSA. Participants simply report their steps and miles, showing support that shines a light on WAAGR and support for Miranda.
Team Grace-Colhoun Family, United Kingdom. The Colhouns once again hosted their Charity Poker Night fundraiser for the IWSA. Local businesses and individuals donated prizes, players bought raffle tickets, and everyone enjoyed good food and drinks in honor of Grace and her family. Contact aaron.colhoun or michelle.colhoun@ wagr.org for assistance on how to plan a Poker Night event.
Team Joshua-Andrea Harris, Wisconsin, USA. Set a goal to raise $1,113 by creating the "11 for 11 Challenge"-move for 11 minutes, donate $11, and challenge others to do the same. Motto: However you move, you belong. Andrea will also create posts sharing her son's story to help raise awareness of the challenges our children face. She will set a day when she matches contributions made by her supporters.

"WAGR Awareness Day" is one day a year dedicated to increasing international understanding of:
WAGR Awareness Day is also the IWSA's largest fundraiser of the year. Donations and community support are crucial to helping the organization to continue pursuing its mission. WAGR Awareness Day is the opportunity for everyone to show their support and generosity.
The first WAGR Awareness Day was held on November 13, 2017. Since then, this annual event has continued to grow.
WAGR syndrome is caused by a genetic deletion that involves Chromosome 11p13 . All individuals with WAGR syndrome share a common segment of deleted genes that includes the WT1 (Wilms tumor) gene, and the PAX6 (Aniridia) gene, as well as the genes that lie between these two.
In recognition of the location of this genetic deletion, WAGR Awareness Day is celebrated each year on November 13th.
WAGR Awareness Day is a unique opportunity to share information about WAGR syndrome and how the IWSA supports individuals and families affected by the rare disorder. This is a great way to show your support--encourage family members, friends, coworkers, and others in your community to donate to the IWSA.
Tell Your IWSA Story
One of the best ways you can participate is by sharing how WAGR syndrome and the IWSA has impacted your journey. Your community will be most impacted by hearing directly from you!
Better medical care. Powerful research. Family support that makes a real and lasting difference in the lives of kids and adults with WAGR syndrome.
When you support the IWSA, you make ALL of these happen!
